THE ORIGINAL LIVESAY RTAK

HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND IS NO LONGER MADE

The new improved version that will replace the original Livesay RTAK is the Livesay Adventure Knife Number 5 aka: LAK5  The Livesay Adventure Knife #5, is from the "ESSEL SURVIVAL TOOL SERIES" and is a superior knife design to that of the original RTAK...............PERIOD!  Field tested by real user and real experts not some self proclaimed Sexual Intellectuals.  This knife has superior heat treating, cryo-quenched blade, and design by the maker Newt Livesay.

This photograph shows the original finished, but unsharpened prototype RTAK (top) made by Newt Livesay in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

The bottom knife is the original Livesay RTAK  used to make all knives ever turned out by the same.  The white, and reddish stains are pieces of the original hand drawn paper pattern that was glued onto the steel bar to make the knife's pattern.  Both of these knives are in my private collection.

THIS KNIFE IS IN THE ESSEL COLLECTION CHECK THIS OUT

This new knife handle design (improvement) has already been ripped off by a couple of no imagination knife experts.

RIGHT TOP:   ORIGINAL LIVESAY  RTAK  -
RIGHT BOTTOM:   A  LIVESAY LAK4  THE LAK4 WHICH HAS A BETTER MORE SECURE HANDLE DESIGN WITH A PRACTICAL POMMEL.  BOTH KNIVES COME STANDARD WITH FLAT GROUND BLADES, AND ERGONOMIC  CONTOURED HANDLES FOR SUPERIOR HANDLING AND CONTROL.

NOTE:  THE IMPROVED BASIC HANDLE DESIGN ON THE LIVESAY DESIGNED LAK4 LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN APPLIED OR COPIED BY A SO CALLED JUNGLE SURVIVAL COMPANY ON THEIR "NEW" IMPROVED KNIFE.  AS GOMER PYLE SAID, SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE!  LMFHO  TYPICAL NO IMAGINATION SELF PROCLAIMED DESIGN EXPERTS

MORE SPECIFICATIONS & HISTORY OF THE LIVESAY RTAK HERE

RIGHT:  THE TAPERED HANDLE SCALES SHOWN HERE ON THE RIGHT ARE A PREMIER ADDITION TO BOTH THE LIVESAY LAK4, AS WELL AS THE LIVESAY RTAK.  THE THINNER TAPERED AND CONTOURED GRIND ON BOTH OF THESE KNIFE HANDLES ARE EXTREMELY SUPERIOR IN DESIGN FOR EASE OF USE, MAXIMUM COMFORT, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY . . . . SAFETY. THESE ERGONOMICALLY DESIGNED HANDLES GIVE FAR MORE CONTROL THAN THE BULKY “TWO BY FOUR" SLABS ON MOST COMMERCIAL MACHETES, AND SUPPOSEDLY QUOTE "JUNGLE SURVIVAL KNIVES, OR CAMP KNIVES." UNQUOTE.

JUNK IS JUNK, AND IT IS YOUR LIFE SO WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO BET YOUR LIFE ON?  IF IT DOES NOT HAVE  A PROPER HEAT TREAT THEN YOUR THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY.

THE STORY OF THE LIVESAY DROP HANDLE KNIFE:   The bend or drop handle on the LAK series is a throw back to the early LIVESAY designed machetes such as the WASP Survival Tool, and other prototypes and production knifes.  A very limited RCM Recon Combat Machetes were produced with drop handle in early 1994.  This photo shows three production knives with drop handle knives, with two of these knives being very early production survival type knives with this special handles form.

Top knife is a production Mdl. 16, originally manufactured in 1995.  The Middle knife is a production Mdl 17 which was originally manufactured in 1997  is Bottom knife is a later design version of the Original Livesay RTAK manufacture in 2001 thru 2002.   Some one brought up the similarities in the handles of that and a few other knives on the market today.  Well these so called self-proclaimed  "experts" who claim they design and test knives, gear, survival products, and other items used by the public and military basically in my opinion just rip off legitimate designers such as Busse Combat Knives, TOPS, Pat Crawford, Blackie Collins, and myself Livesay Combat Knives, and other hard working makers.

BELOW:  THE WASP  SURVIVAL TOOL WITH ITS ERGONOMICALLY SUPERIOR  DROPPED  HANDLE IS THE  BEST DESIGNED MACHETE ON THE MARKET TODAY FOR THE NOVICE AND PROFESSIONAL USER.   YOU CAN BUY MACHETES OF LESSER QUALITY FOR MORE MONEY OR FOR LESS MONEY, BUT NONE WILL COMPARE WITH THE WASP FOR SUPERIOR HEAT TREATING, AND HANDLING.  THIS IS A TOOL FOR YOUR LIFE.  PURCHASED BY THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT FOR FOR SPECIAL OPERATION  PERSONNEL BEING DEPLOYED BY HELICOPTER  IN THE FIRST DAYS OF THE EVASION  OF AFGHANISTAN.

The WASP has sold on contract to some of the most prestigious and professional military units in the world.
